Tiger Woods - Domestic Violence Victim

Itseems that Tiger Woods was a victim of domestic violence. His trophy wife (ugh… did she get ugly fast) chased him around with a golf club. Luckily she is a woman, otherwise she would have spent the night in jail.

Anyway, I decided to call for help on Tiger’s behalf. The web site below is a good one in case you are a victim of domestic violence.

Tiger – please note the “quick escape” button if your wife should catch you on this site.

When Faith Kills

Evangelist Billy Joe Daugherty died Sunday morning at the age of 57. Daugherty was an advocate of the Word of Faith theology. The Word of Faith theology is basically a combination of Christian Science and traditional Christianity.

Christian Science was founded by Mary Baker Eddy in 1866. The basic premise of Christian Science is a denial that sickness and evil are real things. In the Christian Science view, bad things are only real if we believe them to be real. As such, if we have positive thoughts, we will not get sick or have difficulties. Basically it is a denial of reality.

In the 20th century a sect of Christianity melded Christian Science into traditional Christianity. This sect later became known as the Word of Faith or Prosperity gospel. The practitioners believe that God wants us all to be rich and healthy and we can obtain such a state if we have enough faith. And faith does not mean trust in God. Faith is a supernatural substance (sort of like The Force in Star Wars) that is used to manipulate reality. And we manipulate this reality through our words. Say the wrong thing and you can speak evil into existence. It is magic thought.

As traditional Christianity has lost its influence in Western Civilization, we have seen various weird sects sprout. These sects tend to be based more on emotion rather than discipline. Much of modern Christianity has devolved into a “feel good” religion that lacks substance. In a word, Christianity has become feminized.

If these sects had only a minor influence it would not be much of an issue. But, unfortunately, much of the Right in America has been co-opted by a strain of Christianity that bears little resemblance to the religion that birthed Western Civilization.

According to Billy Joe Daugherty’s teachings, if he had enough faith he would have lived to a ripe old age without sickness. Billy Joe Daugherty chose to deny reality. And while nature allows us to deny reality, nature does not allow us to escape the consequence of denying reality.

The State proposes a carbon allowance

As part of the battle against “climate change”, Britain’s Environment Agency has proposed that everyone be given a “carbon allowance” which will be tracked every time a person uses carbon such as buying gasoline or booking a flight. If you should exceed your carbon allowance (as determined by the State) you face fines and penalties.

Of course, as the war against “climate change” can never be won, this is a perfect excuse for the State to further increase the control they have over you.

Many environmentalists are watermelons – green on the outside but red on the inside.

Through the Shadows

“All that is gold does not glitter,

Not all those who wander are lost;

The old that is strong does not whither,

Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

From the ashes a fire shall be woken,

A light from the shadows shall spring;

Renewed shall be blade that was broken,

The crownless again shall be King”

- Tolkien

Peeing on Jesus is funny and edgy

In a recent HBO Curb Your Enthusiasm episode, the protagonist, Larry David, urinates on a picture of Jesus. This has sparked some controversy amongst some Christians. HBO executives responded with the following statement:

Anyone who follows Curb Your Enthusiasm knows that the show is full of parody and satire. Larry David makes fun of everyone, most especially himself. The humor is always playful and certainly never malicious.

One wonders if HBO would consider it to be “humorous” and “playful” if a Christian comedian should piss on a picture of Mohammed or the Star of David?

Ft Hood Shooting Thoughts

I think that during this time of reflection after the horrible Ft Hood shooting it is important to remember what makes our armed forces the best in the world. No, it is not superior weapons or training. Our secret weapon is diversity. Our strength is that we have all races, genders, religions and sexual orientations in our armed forces.

Unfortunately, due to endless hate and racism of White people and Christians, sometimes good people such as Major Hasan snap. Such an episode reminds us the real victims are not those that were hurt or killed - the real victim was Major Hasan.

Some Time Travel

I love to read old magazines. Reading old magazines is a way to time travel into the past to see how the world looked. What is great is that you can learn history from looking at the actual media that was read by the people of that time. Far too often historians or “educators” will provide a spin of an era through a lens of current mores and propaganda. By looking at the source material from that time, you can bypass the current fashions and prejudices and gain a better understanding of how America actually looked during a specific era.

For better or worse, America has been radically transformed since the year of my birth (1963). By browsing through these magazines you can see how much has changed.

Here is the link to the old Life Magazines provided by Google Books.
